Raymond, born in Barry, South Wales studied at Cardiff College of Art and The Slade where he won both the figurative and landscape prizes in 1961. After winning the Gulbenkian Foundation Award and the Abbey Major Scholarship to Rome his love affair with Italy began and he spent the last 30 years living and painting there until his recent return to London.
He exhibited extensively throughout the 60s and 70s at the well established London Lefevre Gallery as well as in Florence, Rome, Tokyo and Florida. In addition his works are included in a number of public collections such as the government Art Collection, Castle Museum Nottingham, the Contemporary Art Society of Wales.
